As part of Ontario’s response strategy to U.S. tariffs, the government of Ontario has directed LCBO to take operational steps to implement restrictions on all U.S. beverage alcohol sales and related imports into Ontario, effective immediately.

LCBO will immediately:

-    Cease the purchase of all U.S. products and cancel existing orders where contractually possible.

-    Remove all U.S. products from wholesale product catalogues and retail eCommerce sites.

-    Start removing all U.S. products from LCBO retail stores and LCBO Convenience Outlets.

A letter was shared with suppliers of U.S. products earlier today.

What you should know:

-    This applies to spirits, wine, beer, cider, ready-to-drink, and non-alcoholic products. A list of U.S.-made products being removed from LCBO retail is attached.

-    We will be communicating requirements with our wholesale customers (including grocery, convenience stores, LCO’s, Licensees, Duty Free, Specialty Services, and TBS).

-    LCBO has been asked to cancel existing orders of U.S. products where possible and some recent orders of U.S. products may not be fulfilled or cancelled.

-    Product pages for U.S. products on LCBO.com will remain but will include notices about being unavailable and recommended alternatives.

-    LCBO.com and the LCBO app will be unavailable for several hours today, while U.S. products are removed.

-    Signage will be displayed in LCBO retail stores and LCOs.

-    Our teams will work with any suppliers of U.S. products who have planned promotions and/or events.

-    U.S. products will not be purchased by LCBO until the LCBO is directed to resume normal business.

We will offer updates as able. Thank you for understanding and support as we implement provincial government decisions in response to the U.S. tariffs.
