LCBO’S FUTURE STATE MODERNIZATION RESOURCES FOR SUPPLIERS
LCBO’s Future State Modernization Resources for Suppliers
LCBO has embarked on a multi-year program called Future State Modernization (FSM) that will strengthen our IT systems, and streamline our processes, improving our operations for our company and our stakeholders.
Amongst its business benefits, FSM will enable the standardization of processes across all lines of business, support effective inventory management, the ability to automate and optimize scheduling, strengthen data governance, allow for more seamless and personalized customer experiences, maximize performance of digital properties, and allow for improved overall responsiveness.
FSM is a critical enabler of marketplace modernization, including LCBO becoming the exclusive wholesaler of record in Ontario in January 2026, as announced by the provincial government. Expect more details about this in the following weeks.
Key changes that will affect suppliers starting January 1, 2026
• Alcohol suppliers will use LCBO Gateway to view, accept and confirm purchase orders, meanwhile all suppliers (of alcohol and other goods and services) will use LCBO Gateway to access invoices and payments. With this change, iSupplier and WebPO will be decommissioned.
• Alcohol suppliers who use Direct Delivery Vendor Portal (DDVP) to manage orders directly with LCBO stores or warehouses, and those who use Grocery Management System (GMS) to receive grocery/convenience store orders, will also use LCBO Gateway to manage orders, offering a centralized way to do business with the LCBO. DDVP and GMS will be decommissioned.
• Dropshipping will be introduced for wholesale customers, and Ontario alcohol suppliers will be able to decide if they want to manage some or all fulfillment and delivery for each SKU, by region and by customer type. This offers greater flexibility for supplying sources when it comes to fulfillment and delivery.
• Suppliers who currently book LCBO warehouse appointments using IMS will contact LCBO’s transportation team to do so. There will be no change for suppliers using LCBO carriers.
• Requotes on imported products will now be effective on a periodic basis, which means it will take less time to increase the retail price of products.
In future releases, LCBO Gateway will offer even greater functionality – stay tuned for details.
